The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested four suspects, Lucky Ebhogie, Richman Kas Godwin, Israel Justin and Precious Iwuji, for internet-related fraud. The suspects were arrested by the Kaduna zonal command of the Commission, on August 5, 2021, in Sabo area of Kaduna state following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud activities. Upon investigation, EFCC disclosed that the suspects were mostly involved in impersonation and romance scams, faking the identities of US military personnel on foreign missions to deceive their victims. The Commission revealed that one the suspects, Lucky Ebhogie allegedly recruited his mother into the scam by using her account to launder suspected proceeds of crime; adding that Lucky purchased a Mercedes Benz GLK car for N7 million through his mother's bank account, on 30th July, 2021. Another suspect, Precious Iwuji was arrested for selling her photographs and facebook account to internet fraudsters, which they used to scamming their victims. EFCC added that the suspects will be charged to court.
