DCP Abba Kyari: IGP sets four man special investigation panel

Following bribery allegations on Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba kyari, the , pending the outcome of an ongoing internal investigations on him. 

This was released in a statement by the Force public relations officer, CP Frank Mba, stating that the IGP in his letter to the police service commission, noted that the recommendation for the suspension is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force. 

IGP Baba set up a four man special investigation panel, explaining that the suspension would create an enabling environment for the panel to carry out its investigations into the allegations against Kyari without interference. 

The panel, comprises of four senior police officers, to be headed by DIG Joseph Egbunike, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID). They are to undertake a detailed review of all allegations against Kyari by the US government as contained in relevant documents that have been availed to the NPF by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). 

Also, the panel is to obtain detailed representation of Kyari to all the allegations levelled against him, conduct further investigations as it seems fit, and submit recommendations to guide further actions by the Force leadership on the matter. 

IGP Baba reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to the law, and assured them public of the sanctity of the probe as well as the absolute respect for the rights and privileges of Kyari throughout the period of the investigations.
