Akwa Ibom to receive about 500,000 books

Government of Akwa Ibom state has announced that about 500,000 books will be received by the state in the next 12 months. 

This was disclosed when the Secretary to the state government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem who led a delegation to inspect the Marietta, Georgia warehouse of the BFA. He was in the US to participate in the annual convention of the Akwa Ibom state association of Nigeria, USA. 

The arrangement, which is in partnership with Books for Africa, will ensure the shipment of books valued at $4 million to the state. 

Ekuwem expressed delight at the partnership, stating that the state government is ready to ensure effective collaboration 

The BFA team, which included Executive Director, Pat Plonski, Warehouse Manager Brad Mattson, and board members Mike Essien, Nicky Mundabi, and Matilda Arhin, briefed the visitors regarding the organisation’s participation in U.S. government programs including the USAID Ocean Freight Reimbursement Program and the Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Program.
