President Buhari wishes Pope Francis quick recovery, as he undergoes surgery

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a get-well message to Pope Francis 1 as he undergoes surgery of the colon. 

This was disclosed in a statement by Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president (media and publicity), stating the president had also called on Nigerians and the global community offer their prayers to the Pope.

Earlier, the Vatican news had reported Pope Francis was taken to A. Gemelli Policlinic in Rome to undergo scheduled surgery.

This was confirmed in a statement by Director of the Holy See press office, Matteo Bruni, saying,

This afternoon, His Holiness Pope Francis was taken to A. Gemelli Policlinic in Rome where he will undergo a scheduled surgery for a symptomatic diverticular stenosis of the colon.
