NYSC begins Corps national sanitation exercise nationwide (photos)

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has flagged off the Corps national sanitation exercise at the palace of the Sa'Nyanyayi of Nyanya, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.


NYSC disclosed this on its social media page, stating that Director general in his address, emphasised the need to enlighten the general public on the benefits of good hygiene and also the health risks of poor hygiene, adding that the report from the last Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) exercise attributed more ailments that were diagnosed to poor environmental sanitation habits. 


He stated that the exercise was an avenue to empower members of the public with adequate information on personal and environmental hygiene, with special focus on personal hygiene, regular environmental sanitation, proper waste disposal among others. 


Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim commended the NYSC officials and Corps members, who put in their best in the humanitarian service to the community, urging the Corps members to always intensify efforts on service to humanity. 


NYSC stated that the sanitation exercise which was held on all the 36 state of the federation, would continue every fortnight.
