Niger government recruits total of 1133, promote 6835 and voluntarily retired 5258 in five years

Government of Niger state has revealed that in five years a total of 1,133 has been recruited into the state workforce, even as 6,835 were promoted and 5,258 retired voluntarily within the same period.


This was revealed in a statement by Chief press secretary to the governor, Mary Noel-Berje, stating that the period under review covers from the year 2016 till date. 


She explained that 374 workers were dismissed, while 380 compulsorily retired due to various fraudulent acts and gross misconducts, which includes pension fraud, salaries inflation, employment racketeering and certificate as well as the forgery over the years.


CPS Mary noted that the civil service commission followed due diligence in the exercise of its statutory powers of appointing, promoting and discipline of erring worker, adding that the state is making plans to resume their recruitment of workers earlier suspended during the COVID-19 lock down period. 


Also, She assured that Governor Sani Bello administration is committed to ensuring a disciplined workforce that is well positioned for efficient and effective service delivery, which is only possible if those found with fraudulent acts are taken out of the system.
