Lagos LG poll: Governor Sanwo-Olu casts vote, urges lagosians to come out and vote (photos)

In the ongoing local government elections, Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has casted his vote at PU 019, Femi Okunu/Lateef Jakande ward 09, Ikoyi 2, Eti Osa local government area. 


He urged eligible voters in the state to go out and elect the leader of their choice that will run the affairs of the government at the grassroots level. 


According to him, "The government has provided all the security arrangements to ensure people can excercise their democratic rights without any fear in a peaceful and orderly manner. As a government, we have confidence in the ability of the State Independent Electoral Commission to deliver a credible, free and fair election.

"I am particularly encouraged that 15 political parties are participating in this process and it is our hope that Lagosians will troop out to vote. It is about time we take the issue of governance at the grassroots seriously through active participation."


Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that a progressive and inclusive governance at the local government level starts with Lagosians coming out to vote for those who will run the affairs of the 20 LGAs and 37 local council development areas. 


He added that according to LASIEC, polling stations are still open till 3pm, and encouraged those who haven't voted yet to go out and vote.
