A marvelous day for Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, first female director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) as she celebrates 2 years in office. The Lagos state fire service disclosed this, in honour of her, and listing records of her achievements since being appointed. They include: 1. Attainment of Agency Status as approved by Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in January, 2020 2. Increase in numbers of Fire Station with the taking over of the Fire Section at the Emergency & Security Regional Dispatch Centre, Epe. 3. Ongoing Construction of 2 (Two) additional Fire Stations in Ajegunle - Apapa and Ebute Elefun, Lagos Island to improve service delivery across the State. 4. Acquisition of Lands at Abule Ado, Ijede - Ikorodu, Oworonshoki - Kosofe and Apapa for development of Fire Stations in order to cover the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State. 5. Recruitment of 100 (One Hundred) Personnel in Y2020 to boost the staff strength. 6. Review of the Fire Service Law, 2015 to accommodate the Agency Status. 7. Implementation of additional Departments and Units as created by the Office of Head of Service. 8. Attended over 2,500 Distress Calls between July 2, 2019 and July, 2, 2021 which includes major fire incidents such as OBH (formerly OANDO) fire, Abule Ado Fire, Otedola Bridge back to back Fire incidents, Baruwa Gas Explosion , Iju Ajuwon Gas fire, NNPC Filling Station fire, Balogun Market fire, Amu Plank Market fire, Iddo Warehouses fire, Obalende Tanker and Okobaba fires etc. 9. Received Hundreds of Appreciation and Commendation Letters for prompt response to emergency from Public and Private Establishments among which includes; Guinness Plc., Friesland Wamco, NNPC Ogba, Balogun Market, Sasanik Nigeria Limited, Empire Commercial Company, Sunflag Nigeria Limited, Ikorodu, Abule Ado School, etc 10. Promotion, Advancement and Confirmation of eligible Personnel. 11. Procurement of Light Tools and Equipment for operational use. 12. Improve Emergency Response Time 13. Achieve improvement of Staff welfarism. 14. Reduce Victims/Casualties/Fatalities by about 59% 15. Renovation of all existing 15 (fifteen) Fire Stations and reconstruction of the Headquarters 16 Reduce Fire and related emergency outbreak by 25.24% and False Call by 77.06% 17. Resuscitation of 18 (Eighteen) Fire Fighting Trucks in addition to the 7 (Seven) functional Fire Trucks to beef up the operational efficiency.
