Governor of Borno state, H. E. Umaru Zulum has directed the renovation of primary schools being attended by children of police personnel, and also the allocation of land to Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) for the establishment of skills acquisition centre that will train widows and orphans of deceased police personnel. This was disclosed on the facebook page of Governor of Borno state, revealing that the governor gave the directives while receiving wife of the Inspector General of police, who is also their POWA's president, Hajiya Hajara Usman Baba Alkali at the government house in Maiduguri. During her visit, she informed Governor Zulum about the deplorable conditions of police primary schools, and requested the allocation of land for establishment of a skills acquisition centre for the training of widows and orphans of late policemen. Responding, Governor Zulum promptly gave directives for rehabilitation works that will be carried out after needs evaluation, and directed the Borno State Geographic Information Services (BOGIS) to identify and allocate suitable land to POWA. Hajiya Hajare commended the governor for progressive development, and humanitarian services to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and to families of security personnel. Furthermore, Governor Zulum praised the state Police force, acknowledging them of their contributions towards respecting citizens' rights while safeguarding lives and property. He added that the police are playing significant roles in Borno's growing stability and restoration of civil authorities, particularly in local government areas.
