Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has joined troops of Joint task force north east Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in performing the Eid-El Kabir prayers at the 212 parade ground in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri. This was revealed in a statement by Director army public relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, stating that the COAS observed the prayers along with Principal staff officers from Army headquarters, officers and soldiers of Theatre command OPHK. In delivering the Eid sermon, Acting deputy director Islamic affairs 7 division, Captain Mohammed Babangida prayed for peace and security of the nation. He also made to Allah for mercy, guidance and divine protection for President Muhammadu Buhari and all members of the Armed Forces, especially in the ongoing fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
