Anti Corruption Network has submitted a reminder letter to the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on the petition against the Kogi state government and Governor Yahaya Bello. This was disclosed by their Executive secretary, Senator Dino Melaye, on social media. The letter reads, "We had on the 26th February, 2021 submitted a petition against the Governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello and his cohorts wherein we uncovered huge financial fraud carried out in Kogi state from 2016 - 2019. The said petition was also adopted on 31st March, 2021. An acknowledged copy of the petition is herein attached for ease of reference. "To our greatest consternation, the commission has failed, has refused or neglected to swing into action and bring the perpetrators to book. Mr. Chairman, this is not the promise you made to millions of Nigerians when you assumed office as the chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Please, don't affirm the rumor that EFCC is just a toothless bulldog. "We, therefore urge you to redeem the image and the confidence the millions of Nigerians have on the commission by using your good offices to cause further investigation into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book forthwith. "Take notice that if we do not receive any positive response from the commission within a reasonable time, we shall have recourse to all legal means at our disposal, including but not limited to (I) embarking on mass protest at the commission until the right thing is done (II) filing an action against the commission in a court of competent jurisdiction for an order of Mandamus. In an unjust society, silence is a crime. "We, thank you for your cooperation and convey to you the assurances of our highest regards."
