Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has kicked off the construction of 33KB power supply line from Ile-Ife to Garage-Olode (Awolowo town) and the rehabilitation of Ifetedo/Garage Olode 33KV power supply, bringing an end to ten years of darkness in the area. He commended the people in Olode and environs for their patience, understanding and sustained commitment to seeing this project finally laid to rest. The governor also appreciated the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd, especially it's executive director, Mr. Ife Oyedele, for working hard with the state to bring this project to light, adding that through this project power supply will be restored to Ife South West LCDA. He stated that when the project is completed, it would cover the entire Ife South Local government and the LCDA, such as Iyanfoworogi, Aye Coker, Aye-Oba, Wanikin Eleja, Egbejoda, Idi Obi and Ali Ahanran. According to the governor, "As you know, our engineers have commenced erection of electric poles concurrently from both Olode and Ifetedo areas. Ifetedo currently experience epileptic electricity supply. We therefore envisage that there might be problems in the future, hence, we want to link Ifetedo to the line under construction. "This project occupies a strategic place in our agenda to empower our communities to become more viable in contributing to the development of our State. As such, we are working closely with our partner, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), to ensure it is delivered at record time. "Our sincere appreciation goes to the Federal Government for its immense contributions to the success of this project. Special mention must be made of the Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mammah, and the entire management of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) for their immense cooperation with us in bringing this project to reality."
