Governor of Rivers state, H. E. Nyesom Wike has released the sum of nine billion naira (N9bn) to the Rivers State University for building, furnishing and equipping of three campuses of the university in Etche, Emuoha and Ahoada east local government area.
He revealed that the former Vice-Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Ndowa N Lale had performed the foundation laying ceremony for the Emuoha campus for the commencement of the project which has already started.
Governor Wike stated that his administration has decided to establish a fourth campus in the Ogoni area, adding that expectations have been made for the completion of campuses by mid year so that the facilities can run with the school's academic calender next year.
We are not only using the multi-campus model to stimulate development across our state but we also want to ensure more of our people have access to quality education in their localities, he added.
