Governor Wike donates N500 million to Pamo University of Medical Sciences

Governor of Rivers state, H. E. Nyesom Wike has attended the 4th matriculation ceremony of Pamo University of Medical Sciences, and gave thanks to founder, H.E Sir, Dr Perter Odili C.O.N GSSRS for establishing the first private university owned by a Rivers indigenes in the state.

He said that Odili as a former governor and an accomplished medical doctor it would have been more convenient for him to fully enjoy his retirement with his family but he chose to be of service of humanity and blaze the state's educational trajectory with the university.

According to the governor, the promise of education is better life just as no healthcare system can be effective without adequate skilled personnel. Pamo University is bridging the state's dire need for tertiary medical education and producing skilled personnel to improve the state's healthcare system.

Governor Wike stated that the state would be supporting the university with a grant of five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) to get the necessary infrastructure to propel its growth.

We would also continue with our special scholarship scheme which caters for 100 Pamo University Students yearly. For us any such profoundly beneficial educational initiative by any Rivers indigene is deserving of government's support as a deliberate polic, he added.
