Following the complaints of security threat, the FCT Department of Development Control has removed illegal shanties and makeshift structures under high tension line corridor at Arab road, Kubwa district. It disclosed this in a statement, stating that the complaints prompted their action through issuance of contravention notices in different occasions, asking the illegal occupants to vacate the corridor, which was taken with deaf ears to the notices and warnings. According to the statement, "You may further wish to be inform that the FCT call center have also sent a complaint to the department about the existence of the illegal occupants and it also on record that the shanties have been cleared before now, and through a ministerial directive after the Calabar viewing center under the high tension which claimed many lives." The department stated during the enforcement drive within Kubwa, the corridor was cleared to avert any possible accident and for environmental serenity.
