Akwa Ibom distributes farm inputs to public schools

Akwa Ibom state, Ministry of Agriculture has continued the distribution of farm inputs to public schools in the state. 


Commissioner for agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet led the distribution of the second batch, which was for schols in Eket Senatorial District. 


Edet said that the exercise was part of state Governor Udom Emmanuel's continuing efforts towards the actualization of the food sufficiency policy which was a critical aspect of the Governor's Completion Agenda. 


She called on participants to utilize the vast expanse of land in their schools and expose their wards to the rudimants of Agriculture in order for them to have something to fall back on after their school years. 


The commissioner stated that a team of experts has been tasked with going round the benefiting schools in Eket senatorial district and the state at large for inspection. 


Speaking, Director of Agriculture in the ministry, Emmanuel Akpan urged the attendees to take the process seriously, describing Agriculture as one of the World's largest income-earning ventures and appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for painstakingly translating the vision of the Governor in the Agriculture sector.
