Gun violence in America must be put to an end - Barack Obama

Former president of America, Barack Obama has urged the US government to put in place commonsense gun safety laws and root out the prevasive patterns of hatred and violence in the society.

He said that even as we have battled the pandemic, we have continued to neglect the longer-lasting epidemic of gun violence in America.

As regards the shooter's motive, Obama said that it is not yet clear, but the identity of the victims underscores an alarming rise in anti-Asian violence that must end, and there is far more work that must be done to ensure this.

He said,

"Michelle and I pray for the victims, their families, everyone grieving these needless and devastating killings—and we urge meaningful action that will save lives."
