Former general manager, dangote industries limited along with two others sentenced to 7 years each for fraud

Raymond Akanolu, former General Manager, Dangote Industries Limited Mojisola Aladejobi, along with Balogun Omololu Alaba and Mojisola Aladejobi has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment each on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and attempt to obtain money by false pretence to the tune of $32,000 (Thirty Thousand US Dollars). 


They were arraigned by the Lagos zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice S. S. Ogunsanya of the Lagos state high court sitting in Ikeja. 


The defendants, sometimes In October 2014, in Lagos allegedly conspired among themselves to defraud Dangote industries limited of the said sum by inflating the premium for the renewal of insurance policy cover for its Hawker Aircraft with registration No. 5N-DGN. The offence is contrary to section 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, No. 11 of 2011.


They pleaded 'not guilty' to the charges preferred against them, thereby leading to their full trail. 


Furthermore, the prosecution counsel, S. O. Daji and Babatunde Sonoiki, called witnesses and tendered documents that were admitted in evidence by the court, which led to their conviction.
