Lagos State Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has revealed the recovery of N40m for consumers in the month of February, 2021.
General manager, Barrister Afolabi Solebo stated that the amount was recovered as compensation and out right refund of payment for returned substandard goods which was recovered by the agency within a period of one month of mediation.
He advised retailers and consumers to carefully check their product before either displaying or purchasing so as to facilitate immediate removal of the expired products.
Giving details of the beneficiaries of the refund, he said Butterbust Global Foods Ltd, who bought 100kva generating set from C. Woermann (Nig) Ltd to the tune of 7 million naira, saying that the product malfunctioned immediately it was purchased and was returned to the company with the mediation from the agency a total value for the purchase of the product was refunded.
Others are Biaxial Project Solution Ltd versus automobile company, LASCOPA through mediation assisted in the recovery of the sum of 7.6m for the purchase of a defective vehicle. Mr Showumi Brothers Co was refunded the sum of N653,200 for the purchase of defective white cement.
He urged members of the public to always channel their complaint to the agency through the available social media platforms, stating that LASCOPA services are free.
