Following the arrests of protesters, Nigerians has expressed their grievances concerning the arrests.
Activist Reno Omokri described the arrests as unconstitutional, and therefore null and void. He also stated that he is ready to help anyone with legal representation, amongst those that were illegally arrested.
According to him,
The arrest of #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters is unconstitutional, and therefore null and void. If you have been illegally arrested, please respond to this tweet with proof of your arrest and I will do my best to get you legal representation.
Omokri added,
General Muhammadu Buhari is sending the wrong message to Nigerian youths. By arresting peaceful #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters, and rehabilitating so called 'repentant' Boko Haramists and negotiating with bandits, he is telling youths to take arms if they want government to listen.
