What makes a person hold their head high?

People holds their head high for various reasons, most especially because they have achieved something or they own something. Holding one's head high doesn't mean to belittle people, it is an indication of being proud something that the person has accomplished, most especially when it has taken him or her a long period of time to get it.

There are three things that makes people hold their high - (1) When you fight for something that you believe in, (2) When you tell the truth, and (3) When you do your best; No one can take it away from you because it is your victory and you alone can decide how you want to celebrate it.

It has been argued that it is only when a person achieves success that he or she can raise their head high; this is not true because there are millions of reasons to what can be considered as worth of being able to raise one's head high. These reasons can be narrowed down to the three aforementioned.

The victory that comes in fighting for something that you believe in can be considered as one; even when you do not win eventually, as long as you stand for and abide by what you believe in that can be considered as worthy of head being raised because you have fought; it is not by the prize that is being won at the end, it is about what you have done to get the prize at the end.

Truth is freedom - freedom in peace of mind, freedom from secrecy, freedom from lairs, freedom that you have nothing to hide. When you tell  the truth, people are able to believe you and see you as a truthful person; as a result of this, you will be able to raise your head high knowing that they have nothing against you.

Doing your best is another, it doesn't have to be that you must win or succeed, it is about you trying and giving it the best shot that you have. You are pleased with the work you have done, how far you have come, your ups and downs, everything you have been through; sometimes it is not success that always count, it could be your performance.

Do what you have to do, take your best shot, don't be discouraged by the results, be proud of what achievements you have made, and hold your head high.
