Competition in elections for the seat of power is vested on the power of the votes, and who ever has the highest number of votes from the people. In other for any of the competitor to hold that power, he or she must pass through the election process, make campaign for his or her purpose, and win the election.
Though elections are expected to be free and fair, and without violence, it oftentimes turn out to be the opposite because of the other party wanting to retain the seat of power or wanting to do anything at any cost to get into that seat or position.
Majority of people that goes into politics, go there just for the power, money, and influence; they don't have the interest of the voters (people) at heart, and make false promises in other for them just to gain votes and win the election, which is very wrong.
Politicians needs to understand the interest of the voters should be it's top priority, it is not coming out to say what you (politician) will and will not do during your campaign and giving the voters (people) false hope. It is about knowing the interest of the people, having the interest of the people, willing to work for the interest of the people, and be a man of your words.
People vote for a politician not just because of their interests but for their life and future as well. Every decision of an elected politician in power affects the life's of the people in present or in future, and can have a positive and negative effect on them.
So as a politician before you contest for any election check if you have the interest of the people at heart and if you are willing to serve them to the fullest of your ability, if you don't it is best you don't contest for that seat because it would have a drowning effect on you in the future when you come out for another election.
Here is how elections work - you lose the trust of the voters, you lose the election; even before it is contested. Vote is a trust more delicate than any other, because it doesn't just serve the interest of the voters ,but also his life and future, and that of the generations to come.
