The way you lay your bed is the way you lie on it; this implies that you get the results of your effort. The energy that is put to achieving a task determines the result you would get at the completion of such task. For instance, a person that carries out his work diligently and with hardwork would yield a more positive result than another who does it less.
The mistake that is made with this concept is that, people often believe that because they work hard enough, they would always get the same result everyday. They fail to realize that everyday cannot be the same, there are times when it is good and when it is bad; because of this change in nature, they limit their effort and possibly develop a negative attitude to their duty.
For you not to develop this negative attitude; you should not judge each day by the harvest that is gotten but by the seeds that you have planted. To not judge each day by the harvest that is gotten is self explanatory, it simply means that whether your harvest is good or bad, you shouldn't complain.
To judge each day by the seeds that you plant means that you begin from scratch to judge. From the time the task is set into motion; your effort, determination, hardwork, decisions, commitment etc that has been made is what you should begin to judge from because these are what generates the harvest. It is what affects your present results.
