How to handle conflict in a business organization


All business organizations have it's conflict issues, it could be between employer and employees or amongst employees (workers). These conflict can arise from unfair treatment, misunderstanding. hatred and jealousy, and can hamper on the efficiency of the organization.

Conflict situations in an organization are to be handled with care, efficacy and great concern because if allowed to escalate could cause damage to the organization like loss of workers, bad reputation to the public, growth in distrust and even the closure of the organization.

There are many ways for which an organization can resolve conflict. Most use the basic idea of conflict resolution which is to set the two parties in conflict to make peace.

This method of conflict resolution isn't actually effective to resolve a conflict because it often times doesn't take care of what lead to the conflict, it rather dwells on them making peace so that work would go on.

The best method to resolving a conflict situation in an organization is through conflict mediator.

CONFLICT MEDIATOR 
This method of resolving conflict is cost effective as well as efficient, it is for organizations or business that can afford the expenses of hiring a conflict mediator. A conflict mediator is a person whose job is to resolve conflict by finding the problem and making ways to resolve the dispute.

The conflict mediator set out to discover the real cause of the conflict by speaking individually and privately to the parties involved in the conflict, after hearing all parties in the conflict, the conflict mediator then ascertain the problem and look for the best means of resolving the conflict.

In the case of small businesses 
As regards an organization that doesn't have the financial capability to hire a conflict mediator. Such organization can assign the task of solving the conflict to one of the employees that it considers capable of handling the situation. The employee performs the function and task of a conflict mediator.

Apart from the employee, the task of a conflict mediator can be performed by the head of the organization or the employer.

To ensure that the person assign to the task of conflict mediator carries it out properly, the organization should constantly supervise the work done and guide where needed.

This process of conflict resolution is very essential and efficient to the growth and well-being of the business/organization, and should be consider when such situation affect the organization and it's business process.
